It's that time again...NAIA National Tournament! Let the games begin!

There are 32 teams across the nation that come to Jackson, TN to play for the title of National Champion! The Lady Lions (26-6), received the No. 3 seed in the third quarter, and are making their 14th straight trip to the NAIA National Tournament. The tournament festivities began Tuesday night with banquet where all teams come to enjoy dinner together and size up their competition. At the banquet, Jana Cross was awarded WBCA All-American award for the 3rd time. I was so proud of her! Here are some pictures from the banquet that night.

Wednesday night was the opening ceremonies and the 1st day of the 1st round. Before the parade of champions, our sponsors, State Farm, took us out to dinner where we all enjoyed laughing and telling stories. Also while we were eating there was this girl about 14 years of age sitting outside in her mom's minivan. We could see out of the window by our table but she could not see us in the restaurant. She was sitting in the passengers seat and looking out into the review mirror. She kept posing and looking at herself. She did this for at least 20 minutes! It was hilarious! We kept watching her and laughing until it got to the point of being annoying! Of course I had to snap a picture so here is a shot of one of the many poses she was doing.

The Power of Sports

When it comes to bringing out the best in people’s spirit, there is nothing like playing sports. In every sporting experience there is a richness that amplifies our emotions. The power of sports somehow makes sounds more vibrant, emotions more powerful, and dreams so close you can touch them. Oh wouldn’t it be nice to have that feeling all the time? Love the game and most importantly respect the game! Said it best is Barry Mano, “Sports is life with the volume turned up!”

What kind of price would you pay to live your dreams? Always remember to never look where you’re going. Always look where you want to go.

Next week will be the NAIA National Tournament and the Lady Lion’s are looking to capture their dreams by winning the title of National Champion. I know they can do it, as long as they follow their heart and play to their full potential. This week the NAIA National Tournament bracket came out and FHU got a number 3 seed. Their 1st round game will be played Thursday night at 8:00 March 18.

Here is the link to see the NAIA National Tournament bracket. I pick FHU and Union to play in the championship game. Now wouldn't that be awesome!

FHU Lady Lions Stun Union Lady Bulldogs in the TranSouth Conference Championship

It's been a long time coming for the FHU Lady Lions to steal back the title of TranSouth Tournament Champions from the Union Lady Bulldogs. The last time FHU beat Union was in 2006 for conference regular season and tournament champs. That was my sophomore year and boy was it a great feeling to win back-to-back conference championships! I got the "bling" to prove it! But Last nights game was even more special for me. I am the Grad Assistant coach this year and the win for me was from a totally new prospective. I was so happy for the players and the seniors especially! I have never seen Tara or Jana play with so much heart! All their hard work paid off finally to kill Union's 60 home game winning streak. And it felt so good to beat them on their own court! I am so proud of my Lady Lions! Way to represent a proud alumni player!

Tournament MVP Jana Cross
After she came off the court I hugged her and told her how proud I was of her. Also I told her it was the best game of her life!

Senior Tara Deatheridge
I was so proud of her too because she played with that fire in her eyes!

Meribeth Boehler scored her 1000th point

That's my girl Meribeth!

The Trio!
